But now we're in need of improvements.  Our building, which is designated on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places, has not had a major renovation since it was built in 1922.  The building's limitations- faulty heating and plumbing systems, inaccessible restrooms and entrances, insufficient accoustics, and limited capacity for incubator businesses- are impeding the growth and success of our programs.  

Our planned renovations include:

• Addition of restrooms on the main floor
• Addition of a limited access lift
• New stage, increased seating, and enhanced acoustics in the auditorium
• New dressing rooms and upgraded prop and costume storage for performers
• Expansion of commercial kitchen to allow for multiple operations at one time
• Conversion of old classrooms into a Conference and Retreat Center
• Two new rooms for incubator businesses
• New mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems
• Exterior painting and window repairs

These improvements will modernize the building for the convenience of tenants and visitors, maintain a vibrant center of activity for area residents, and preserve a cherished landmark for future generations.  This is an important investment in our community, and we need your support.
